What To Wear Wednesday #1

When booking their sessions, many clients ask the hardest question that I have to answer on a (semi) regular basis. "What should we wear?" is my kryptonite. It would be so hard to tell everyone what to wear to their portrait sessions, because every single one we do is different. Different location, different personalities, etc. It would be impossible to fit each of our clients into a box, to tell them what would suit their personalities best.

But don't get me wrong, we love helping clients style their sessions from our side (props & location) to their side (style) we are all for it. So, we decided to start a weekly (maybe every other weekly) topic on what to wear. We will scour the web and find outfits suitable for upcoming events and post them, or, create them ourselves for you. We will cover a variety of different styles, body types, and age groups. Check out the posts, see what sings to you, what suits yourself and/or your family.

Grand ReOpening Announcement

Welcome to the updated So Posh Photography Blog! Here you will find information about sessions, special discounts, and local portrait events, as well as tips and tricks to get you ready for your memory-making session, and much more!

For those of you who do not know, close members of both Jimmy's family and also my family have been fighting cancer since last fall. With family obligations, daily Doctor appointments, and life in general, we both wound up cutting back on work to help out as much as possible. I closed the physical studio a few months back, taking no new clients and limiting myself to few appointments the last several months in an effort to keep up without burning out.

You do NOT want an emotionally or physically exhausted photographer. It will end badly.

Thankfully my mom finished her treatment, and had a 3 month check up (and PET scan) in July and things are looking good for her. She still has a long way to go to get back to normal, but any good news we will take. Unfortunately, things did not go as well for Jimmy's side of the family. We are still processing the loss of two members of his family (one to cancer, and one suddenly, to an accident).  Things are not quite back to normal yet, but really, neither of us ever admitted to being normal anyway. We are taking it one day at a time, finding once again the things we love and embracing them.

My 'thing I love' is photography. Capturing memories of babies, children, seniors, couples, and families makes my heart happy. If you had told me when I started in this profession, 5 years ago, that I would fall so in love with what I do, I would never have believed you. I still have a hard to believing that I love what I do, and the people I come in contact with, so much.

So in order to reflect all this in my work, I have been revamping the business end of So Posh Photography this last month, getting everything in place to work with our new life schedules, so that I can still provide to you, and to all my customers phenomenal service. From the beginning of each customized session (complete with original props and backgrounds), a plan is in place to take you from session, to ordering, to editing, to receiving your order in two weeks or less, for regular sessions. You read that right. I was always as swift as possible but nearing the time I closed for summer, orders had a 4 week or so wait time. That is not something any of us want!  But now, with new software, new processing, and new print labs, everything (in a reasonable size) comes in amazingly quick.

So now that everything is in place, I am looking forward photographing you again. Over the course of the next few days, I will be posting lots of new info about sessions, and several specials to use in August and September. If you have been shopping around for someone new to take your portraits, or were waiting for me to come back, they will be the perfect opportunity to try out So Posh Photography. You won't be disappointed.
